Formation of regional identity in the inner periphery Czech; case study Neveklov region
Skalová, Vlasta ; Fialová, Dana (advisor) ; Bičík, Ivan (referee)
This diploma thesis had two basic aims. The first was an analysis of the processes shaping regional identity particularly of the study area of Neveklovsko and the identification of the inner potential in the region from the socio-economic and sociocultural aspects. The second aim was to identify the differences in the various areas of Czech region, specifically the high concentration of settlements with a predominately tourist and recreational function, where the research was conducted within the grant project. The research was carried out on using a field survey and questionnaire. The Neveklovsko area is an example of a rural area of the inner periphery containing a high concentration of settlements with the predominating tourist and recreational function. The Second World War played an important role in shaping regional identity, particularly because of forced displacements and its use as a training ground of the SS. Keywords: second housing, regional identity, countryside, inner periphery
The Development Potential of the Smallest Municipalities
Taičmanová, Pavla ; Perlín, Radim (advisor) ; Maříková, Pavlína (referee)
The present thesis deals with the influence of human resources for the development potential of selected villages situated in the area of inner periphery of the Vysocina Region. Within the scope of polarized geographical space areas with varying degrees of stability and potential for development can be identified, where endogenous development opportunities can be considered as crucial factors- in particular the level of human resources. The present thesis monitors the quality of human and social capital on the example of three villages, using the combination of quantitative and qualitative research methods. The capitalization rate and utilization of human resources is evaluated mainly in terms of involvement of local partakers/participants, their levels of cooperation and participation of the population in public life. The thesis deals with the analysis of the social networks of actors of public, non-profit and private sectors active within the inner periphery, which is located in the border area of central, west and south Bohemia. The objective of the thesis is to try to identify and characterize social networks of actors active in the area of interest and acquire knowledge about the complexity, density and overall organization of these networks. The main research questions of the thesis include evaluation of the complexity of the identified social networks, characterization of frequency of collaboration between the actors in networks, or assess the influence of the actors within the area of interest from their perspective. The effort is also to compare the analyzed results of these networks within three individual parts of the area of interest. The input data are gained using the content analysis of documents, namely the content analysis of local periodicals published within the area of interest Then, using a method of social networks analysis and the UCINET program, the features and characteristics of identified social networks of actors within the area of interest such as size, density, centrality of a network, or specification of core and periphery actors of such network. The role of soft factors in the development of the inner periphery of the Eastern Bohemia
Komárek, Marek
The role of soft factors in the development of the inner periphery of the Eastern Bohemia Abstract In recent years, research on conditionality process of space polarization and regional development puts emphasis on understanding importance of endogenous and "soft" factors. General theories of regional development (formed mainly on the basis of evaluating "hard" data) are verified by frequent case studies because of their limited explanatory power. In these case studies, especially qualitative approaches of evaluation are applied. Influence and validity of "soft" factors significantly increases with decreasing hierarchical level, so it is desirable to conduct empirical research at the municipal level. Diploma thesis aims to analyze "soft" factors of regional development and understand the nature of differences in socio-economic development at the municipal level in the inner periphery of Bohemia. The concept of the institutional thickness has become the theoretical basis. This concept has logical overlap to the concept of the social capital. The objects of research are the spatial co-operation of actors of regional development (mayors), their reciprocal trust and engagement in local activities. Thesis aims to identify and to explain the nature of relations, direction of interactions and impact of political...

Threatened villages in marginal regions in Czechia
Taitl, Lukáš ; Perlín, Radim (advisor) ; Vaishar, Antonín (referee)
This diploma thesis is generally devoted to the endogenous potential of the development of the smallest settlements of the selected part of the inner periphery in Czechia. This internal potential is created by the socio-economic and socio-cultural status of the settlement. At a time when the rural development paradigm, ie the top-down approach and the principle of local governance, prevails according to OECD, it seems that the socio-cultural part of the endogenous potential of the settlement is probably the key one. The theoretical part of the thesis describes the possibilities of local actors, especially permanent residents and subjects of the second housing, in influencing the overall state of the given settlement - socio-economic part of the internal potential of the settlement. In the practical part, it analyzes the internal potential of selected settlements, statistically tests the relationship between these factors and looks for probable reasons for different potential. The relationship between the internal factors of development was confirmed and the socio-cultural nature was identified as a key aspect of potential success. The thesis does not aim to predict the exact future of these settlements, but it realistically reflects their internal potential and thus presents their likely direction...
